Me and bud finally got our schedules together to get to some high elevation for a day of fishing for brook trout in a remote tiny stream. What a time we had! There is no trail and you basically got to rock climb up the creek since the rhodenderon is so thick on the banks. The fish were there but the stream didn't fish as well as it has for me in the past, still good though. I had brand new 3wt I've been looking forward to getting wet and it was a blast on the little fish except it really lacked the backbone for casting any distance the few times I needed to. Anyway, a few pics of the day...

We caught most of them on a dry but we used it more since there were plenty of Caddis coming off the water, but as usual, the bigger fish took the nymphs. If I had it to do over, I would have used a nymph all day.

I had to go back and look at some of last years pics. I've been there, done that, and yes, there are fish in that run.


I lost my biggest brookie right under that rhododendrum branch on the right.

Back in my flyfishing days the bead head prince was my go to favortie for rainbows and browns. I need to dust off my old 5wt and waders some day.
 
The leafy green plant in the 8th picture down is pretty good with hot bacon grease and onions dumped on it.Its called branch lettuce,sure would be good with some ramps and trout.
