I have seen them broke up the first week of season and have seen them still together at the end of Oct.- first of Nov. Typically they start splitting up in early October.
 
In Hickman, it is usually around the start of bow season each year. Hard to tell, as a lot of bucks are shifting ranges as soon as we see them lose their velvet. This is usually by mid-September

I always notice it once the velvet comes off. That's when they turn into a completely different deer.

Bingo! Just another facet of increase testosterone production in the bucks. Typically happens immediately after the shedding of velvet. Also something to take note of is that typically the older the Buck is the faster they tend to isolate themselves from the rest of the deer and vice versa
