The past two hunts have been awesome. Yesterday I sat till 10:00 and hadn't seen a deer. I thought my buddy shot at 9:00 so I text him, he thought it was me. We drove around to find where the person that shot was but there wasn't a vehicle for miles. We decided to still hunt and find the guy who shot. We never saw him, instead we had three deer run right up to us. My buddy shot the first two. Strangly, the third walked right up to us.. 5yrds but it was just a fawn and we had two down so I told my buddy to let it go. It never really left. We gutted and drug out the others while it stood there. I just thought it was neat.
Today I sat in my spot again.. not much action until 9:00 when a guy shot maybe 100yrds from me. I hear his buck run off and heard all kind of awkward grunting/bleating so I went to check it out. I didn't make it far and here comes a doe running up to me. It gets 5yrds from me, spooks and trips running back down the ridge. Immediately after that a few more came. One was a piebald so I shot, was pretty sure I missed.. twice! I decided to sit and call my dad. He said he'd be there shortly. I searched for blood, but it was apparent that I missed. My dad showed up and wanted to check the bottom and see if the other guys buck died. While walking my dad wasn't paying attention and didn't notice the deer walking right to us. I stopped him, deer runs off. I started to say don't shoot at it running but before I could he did and missed 3 times.. I wasn't happy that he did that but didn't have time to say anything.. here came the piebald. It went behind brush. Shortly after "it" stepped out and I dropped her. I quickly realized I shot the wrong deer as I saw the piebald run off. I knew where it went so I followed and FINALLY got the piebald I wanted so bad.
Anxious to see the deer I went to it. When I got there an old man walked up on me.. he looked terrified! He was the one that shot at 9:00. I helped him look for his buck but he must have missed or barely hit it.
This was right beside the first deer
My buddy got two coyotes too
