The new rules have a purpose, according to Chris Rosenberry, supervisor of the Game Commission's deer and elk section.
"When large amounts of bait are provided, deer and other wildlife can visit the bait at any time," Rosenberry said. "If deer visit at night, then they cannot be harvested.
"The intent of timed feeders and limiting the amount of bait is to encourage deer to use the bait during shooting hours, before it's consumed."
