Armadillos

Been living in Dickson County almost eight years now. About the second year here I caught two armadillos and then a couple of years later caught two more.
This year I have caught six in the last two months. It looks like the population around here is exploding.
We lived in Henry County before moving here and they were thick as fleas there, I caught a truckload while living there.
I wonder if they are increasing everywhere as bad as they are here.

Not sure what part of the county you're in, but we've been covered up with them for awhile now here. I haven't trapped any, just kill them onsite. I wonder did I mess up killing them, because now we're finding fire ant mounds on our place.

We're in the southeast part of the County, not far from the Hickman County line.
We have had fire ants pretty bad here but haven't noticed them being as bad so far this year.

Armadillos has been a little slow this yr i've
caught 10 and shot 1. I've been making
traps for them about 10yrs now but wait till last of Aug thru October when they really become active. I promise no one hates them things more than me lol one yr i caught 53 just here close to the house and they just keep coming. Btw I've got a few traps availiable if anyone is interested just seen me a pm

My German Shepperd makes quick work of them. . Every nite when I let him out to do his business, he patrols for wayward armadillo's. When he finds them it turns ugly quickly. So far he's got 3 confirmed and 1 possible

Was talking to couple farmers last weekend. They said they were being overloaded so they did a contest to see how many they could get rid of in a week. This was in about a 2-3 mile stretch of a valley. They caught over 300 in that week. Top 2 had 53 and 48. They are still overrun with them.

I've never seen a fire ant mound disturbed by an armadillo. They have no effect on fire ants.

Maybe that's what has happened to our fire ants, used to be everywhere and I haven't seen any in last couple of years.
I still rather have them than the dang armadillos.
