I have shot three armadillos in my front yard late at night. Where ilive is what I call semi country. i am using a 410 due to houses close by. The first I shot with buck shot in a 3 in Shelly pellet load the second i yugo with no4 shot also a 3 in shell. The last I shot with a different type of buck shot load they used small disk the first and last armadillo ran after I hit them making me question my load. The second I hit about 8 feet away and it rolled and jumped but it too still ran off. What can I use that would be better with houses close by.

Sorry for all the mistakes in my writing will do better the next time

I used to have a dog that would run em in a hole and bay em. We killed a ton of em. She ran one by me one night and I got the bright idea to kick it to slow it down. That rig never broke stride and i kicked him with everything I had. If you shoot them
Quartering away that armor isnt as good. Ive seen 22 shorts bounce off that armor shooting at them from the front.

Think of the as deer- you need hits in the head, running gear (front shoulder) or spine to get an instant kill. In all 3 cases, there isn't much to aim at on an armadillo. I think you just cover them in pellets and hope for the best.

Reminds me of a time I was in my home gym which had several windows overlooking the backyard. I went to push a window up and spotted what I thought was a cat at first.

Then realized it was an armadillo about 8 away from the window down below me.

Grabbed the 22 rifle and put one right in his head. He didn't even wiggle after the shot.

CCI mini mag definitely does the trick + head shot.
