Ar-15 uppers

I am looking at buying a upper for my dpms lower , in either 7.62x39 or 300 blackout. I like the simplicity of 300 but anmo is hard to find and I hear that the 7.62 has feeding issues in the ar-15 platform but ammo is easy to find and fairly cheap , what do y'all suggest ?

I owned 7.62x39 upper years ago. Had terrible feeding issues just like you heard. That's been a few years back and they may have done some improvements over the years, but I wouldn't recommend one to nobody. YMMV

If you are just going to shoot cans and paper and not bet your life on the gun working 100%, then get the 7.62x39, that's all it's really good for. If you want to hunt or defend with it, go 300blk or 6.8SPC. There good loadings for hunting and defense for these rounds, but not really for 7.62x39.
Aside from feeding issues, AR's in 7.62x39 suffer from cracked bolts. There's not a lot of material left after trying to fit a bolt head for a 30. rim into a space designed for 5.56. Bolts designed for 6.5 Grendel hold up better than most manufactured 7.62x39 bolts and are interchangeable. Better metal, heat treatment? I don't know why, but it's a fact.
It all depends on what you want from the rifle. I chose 300blk last year for my spare lower.

.300 BLK is the answer. Short barrel + suppressor = success

I have a .308, a DPMS Recon LR308, the only issues I have with it is that I wasted so much time with other calibers before I got this badass weapon.

Why do I say that?
It's an AR.
It's reliable.
It's fast handling.
It's extremely accurate.
And it's a freaking .308.

Get one, you'll understand. :wink:
