Hey folks.. First time post under this name, been off the website for several years. But I'm looking for opinions on a scope for my new AR. I'm wanting a mid range scope and leaning toward the Nikon P223. The 3x32 is a good size but I lose the magnifying option and the size of the 3x9x40 seems long at 12". And of course I want my gun to look good :grin: but I want something that will serve it's purpose too, which would be shooting 100 yrds or less. Throw the suggestions at me!
 
Personally appearance wise I like the 3x32 ,but field of view in that scope I personally don't like.I have a 3x9x40 P-223 mounted on my varmint AR and like it alot,look wise and functionally it fits that rifle,but it has a 24 inch barrel.Another option for you may be the Nikon 2x7x32,that scope is variable and is about 1 inch shorter than the 3x9x40.This is not a AR specific scope but it is a nice one.
 
Thanks for the input fellas!. The Leupold and Burris are really sharp but a little more than I want to spend. Awesome suggestions tho. And dmonty I think with mine being carbine length then the 3x32 would be more of what I'm looking for now that I know it's built specifically for carbine. And I'm pretty sure my next AR will be set up with a minimum 20" barrel so the 3x9x40 would be perfect for that like your 24" barrel. I am gonna look into the 2x7x32 and see what it is all about. Thanks again.

I just field tested a Bushnell AR/223 optic that is a 1-4x 24mm optic with a range reticle that illuminates. I REALLY like the scope and will have one for my personal AR.

The model number is AR9142241.
 
It says on the package that it's designed for carbine length AR-15.. I'm assuming since the 16" is used more for mid/short range they made the scope shorter and without magnifying capabilities for that reason. And thanks scn I'll have a look at that one as well.
