I picked up a DPMS panther AR-10 model #60220. I'm trying to figure out if my lower is compatible with the other uppers available in in other calibers like the .260rem, 6.5CM, etc. from what little looking I have done the LR-308 hunter is compatible with the others, Im just not sure if mine is and just know one of you fine gents knows off the top. Thanks!

Rifle Buffers: Most rifle buffers on the AR-10 are shorter and heavier than the AR-15 to accommodate the longer . 308 bolt carrier group and the force from a larger round. This means they cannot be interchanged. However, the buffer tubes are the same length, making them compatible with either rifle.Feb 7, 2016

Hope this helps, first thing I found on it.

I think that the question centers around "standardization" of AR10 parts/components, correct. In other words, AR15s are all pretty standardized on mil spec dimensions, but AR10 mfgs had some proprietary measurements that are not as interchangeable.

I'm pretty sure that PSA was the one that was least compatible, but I'm not an expert by any means. I'd bet that infoman jr would know

What you have is a GII. This is the platform I worked on for the last 3 years I was with Remington. It is quite a bit smaller than the LR308, so there's not much commonality there. There are a handful of companies that were licensed by DPMS to produce Gen 2s (Wyoming Arms, F4 Defense...) and others that "borrowed" the IP. Since DPMS no longer exists, you'll have to either find some of the leftover parts for sale like these .243 and .260 barrels https://www.cdnnsports.com/catalogs...elevance&dir=desc&q=g2#q=g2&manufacturer=DPMS or look for parts offered by other companies. Adams Arms is planning to support the GII platform, so check them out as well.

Basically, you'll want to look for the GII or G2 designation for commonality. Most people will associate the name AR-10 with an LR308, so you have to be careful there. It can be confusing. If you have any questions about specific parts, feel free to send me a PM.
