Am I correct that my 11 year old son can hunt this season with the Type 012 apprentice permit? I dont think we are going to be able to make the field day before the season opener. He has not used the permit before.

Yes, but he will need an adult over the age of 21 who meets the HS requirements with him at all times where they can take immediate control of his hunting weapon.
As a reminder, he will need a type 94 permit to take does during the Special Season Antlerless hunts.
