I am taking a coworker to hunt this weekend. He has never hunted before. I told him he needs the Apprentice License and that would exempt him from the Hunters Ed course this year. What else does he need to be able to legally hunt this weekend? Does he still need a Hunting License and an archery tag? Thanks.

Yes, he will have to have the 001 regular hunt fish combo and the Archery Big Game license if he is deer hunting, in addition to the Apprentice License.

In addition the two licenses that Gunsmoke listed, he would also need a Type 94 permit if you are going to a WMA.

The Apprentice License also requires that someone 21 or older is in constant contact with him where they can take immediate control of his hunting weapon until he has been certified for hunter education. That means two separate stands or blinds would not be legal while hunting under the Apprentice License.
