Apprentice hunters license?

I'm taking a buddy hunting who has never hunted tomorrow morning and he had to buy the "hunter apprentice" license since he has not taking a hunters ed class. So, I'll have to sit with him in the blind so I can take control of the weapon if needed, according to the rules. Another guy at work was saying since I was there to supervise that I couldn't have my own gun. Anyone know if that's true or not? Thanks..

You can have a gun as well. You just have to be where you can take immediate control of the hunting weapon.

Your friend is aware that all the Apprentice License covers is the hunter education exemption, and he will need all the other licenses and/or permits?
