Anyone use a garden tiller?

All of my homemade implements did a great job this spring. Was hoping for the same result this fall but sadly that didn't happen. Noticed just how much my hard packed dirt was putting a strain on my ATV. So I had to use larger equipment to get it out broke up. Thinking bout just buying a good garden tiller to do the job. Then all the fourwheeler has to do is get me and the tiller to the plot. And pull a cultipacker once everything is planted.

I use them in hard to reach areas. I also have a pull behind tiller I fabricated for my atv.

I have a rear tine Troy-built that I have used, but let me tell ya, anything over half an acre will take forever!

I bought one years ago specifically for putting in those little hidey hole food plots. It worked great but it takes awhile to get her done.

Yep sure have on three quarter acre, your best friend will be round up and let dry up good before tilling.

Rear tine is the way to go. And like everyone else said... bring your lunch.

I did about a 1/4 acre with a front-tine. Then got smart enough to ask to borrow my wifes uncles tractor.

They work great for hard to reach areas but you'll have to earn every inch of the plot. Rear tine tillers usually go on sale in the fall. That would be a great time to pick one up. I personally wouldn't waste the time or money on a front tine tiller. They are much more suited for your wife's flower bed than a food plot.

It will work, but expect back-breaking labor. We used to mow 5 acres of food plots with gas-powered weeded-eaters! Then we "upgraded" to a walk-behind brush mower. Back-breaking...
