The travel is what it is on those releases. You can adjust the tension but the trigger will always need to travel enough to open the jaws and allow the string to slip through.

Bought mine a long time ago but never paid any attention to the pretravle untill yesterday,stopped & had a gander at some brand new scotts today & same story, guess itstiem to switch, look'n hard at a Carter or spott hog.
I've shot Scotts for years. I currently shoot the Rhino XT with an identical release for backup. I shot a Little Bitty Goose for years and never had a moments trouble from any of them.
