To make a long and frustrating story short I bought a Browning BAR Lightweight from a guy in Michigan. During shipment by Fed Ex the butt stock neck was cracked from one side of the receiver to the other. After several conversations he says the gun was not insured...idiot. I seriously doubt I will ever see any type of compensation for this damage. Thus, I will try to fix it myself or send it to someone who knows what they are doing.

I have attached pictures of the damage. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this or would someone experienced in stockwork be willing to take on this job and let me know what it would cost? I think I can just take the stock off and mail it to you if willing to work on it. Thanks.

You might be better off just odering a new butt stock from Browning. I had a Win.Model 88 that was cracked in the wrist like that, the gunsmith at the time, glued it back together with some brass pins driven through it at a few points.

Check with FedX even without Extra insurance. I'm pretty sure it's automaticly insured for a minimun amount. I think UPS it's $100. A new stock will help keep the guns value. A repaired one will depreciate it.

It looks to me like, the crack goes down into the hole that the
bolt goes through to attach the stock or very close to it. I would not trust it, do like the others advise. Get a new stock.
