Anyone Indifferent/Despise Muzzleloading?

The first couple years I got into black powder I thought it was fun! Today I can't wait till rifle season. For me muzzleloading has become a chore.

Cleaning my gun, sighting in, stuff breaking, missing deer, cleaning gun, worrying about barrel sweat, buying more powder, loading speed loaders, applying anti seize to breech plug threads, get out the ram rod, need more patches, where is my nipple tool, oh crap is that rust on the patch, clean the gun, sight in again, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Give me a bow or my .308. My muzzleloader will still see the light of day come blackpowder season but man I want to chuck it into the corn field sometimes :D

nope never, its a rifle, its got to be cleaned. Bow and arrow for me is like, mother bleep bleep bleep! There goes a $20 arrow down the tubes.

All i do is clean mine. Ten minute job at the most. Have never used anti-seize, you dont need it

I'd get a different muzzle loader if I had that much trouble with the one I have.

CVA Accura V1...not having too much trouble with it.

I love the muzzle loader season .I shoot a savage now so clean up is well easy to say the least :)

My Optima v2 is easy to clean.

Smoke-LESS fixes most of those issues.

My smokers sit in the safe lonely and neglected.

I love my Knights, Savage/Pacnor45 and Ultra Light Arms model 20. My CFs have not been outside a safe in years except for inspection and a wipe down.

I sure would use anti-sieze or Teflon tape on a V1 breach plug. The CVA QRBP dont really need it though. My ULA is fine with just a light coat of oil on the plug. All the rest get Teflon tape.

Shoot, I've had all kinds of issues trying to get sighted in and getting ready for this year...scope crapped out, finally realized I just can't get BH209 to fire consistently in my pre 2010 CVA Kod Mag(w/o modifying the BP), hang fire on the second biggest buck I've ever eventually killed! Wouldn't trade it for anything, I love ML season!

Muzzleloader season is my favorite. I rarely take a rifle anymore even during the rifle season unless I'm planning to kill multiple does.

ML season is just another of the challenges deer hunters must deal with. Yes, ML are somewhat disposable guns. Before you laugh at that. Ask yourself how many you have had. I'm up to four over my hunting career and will probably go smokeless at some point. Once you get one to shoot right you are hesitant to change ANYTHING. But then they change anyway. Somebody on here said they change personalities. That's funny because they are mechanical tools but he's right! Bottom line is I love the season because I love hunting the prerut, but if the powers to be wanted to do away with smoke poles altogether it wouldn't break my heart.

I have a cva and its easy just got to be careful cleaning and all of that isn't that tough. of course rifle is easier but its still fun and a heck of a time to hunt.

Mine too.
My son's Hunterbolt is more trouble, but it's not nearly s bad as the older style ones.

I love it so much I wish they'd take 2 weeks from bow season and extend it to muzzleloader.

I like hunting with one, don't mind cleaning them after shooting at a deer or the end of season regular maintenance stuff. I just hate sighting in a new scope. One shot to check zero is one thing but having to go through all the loading and cleaning between shots is aggravating.

I did take this doe yesterday at 25 yards with the Accura V1. 100 grains BH209 and 250 grains Hornady SST.

Pain in the rear... I plan to have a smokeless by next year. I don't have time for all the effort.

At this point I'm just happy to be able to leave the bow at home and have a little more long-range capability!

Of course... it doesn't really matter.. I haven't seen a deer in my last 5 hunts. :mad:

i don't understand all the complaints. clean-up is easy with a little soapy water. muzzleloader has always been my favorite season. much less hassle than bowhunting

LOL its a muzzle loader! If you dont like the clean up, shoot a bow and arrow. Even your centerfire will rust up over time if its not getting cleaned.

I pretty much agree with all that. I got into ML for a couple weeks more hunting and loved it for years but, the last few years it just ain't as much fun. I almost wish that Tn would do like a few other states are doing, and allow older centerfire cartridges.
