After reading several articles on the subject I decided to remove the tarsal glands from a buck I killed on Friday as an attractant. According to my research, taking this bucks tarsals into a place where the bucks arent familiar with his scent should drive the dominant bucks in the area crazy and pull them into my area to check out the new buck... has anyone tried this before?

I have tried it and it will get deer to come check you out. I have two in freezer right now. Might use later this season or wait till next year. I have taken scissors and cut all the hair off of them into a plastic cup. Add 100% glycerin to it and stir. Let it set in a cool place or a spare frig and stir it a few times a day. I used about 2 oz. Per tarsal gland. Strain it through a paint strainer or an old pair of panty hose. It works better than store bought.

If that were the case deer would be running around the woods picking fights with one another from the scent. Bucks are after does right now not other bucks unless they physically come to take a doe.

Bucks are very territorial .... especially when there is a doe in estrous involved. Hadn't heard about the glycerin thing... what I saw instructed me to cut the entire gland out, not just the hair. Freeze it until time to hang and then simply stick a string thru it or a fish hook and tie them to a limb..... this is my first rodeo with the tarsals tho.. I'm very curious to see the results
