Thinking about a fall trip with family and taking boat up there. Pretty good ramps, is the lake shallow or deep any trouble running it? Never been there but a close trip for me and chance to fish too. Thinking about going in october

I live Right by it and have better luck fishing browns creek. I normally just catfish so I cant say as far as other fish go, but to me the catfishing is better on browns. On the other hand pinoak is a great clean place to take your kids.

It will be nice in October, tubes and skiers all gone. Some good bass in it. Two good ramps. Easy to get around on with plenty of deeper water and good banks for fishing.
Note it is only a few miles to Browns Lake where the new state record size largemouth bass was shocked up by game and fish people last winter I think. They put him back.
There are several lakes in the vicinity of Pinoak in addition to Browns. Beech River watershed lakes.
Have a good trip.

Just don't forget your permit. All the Beech River lakes require an
additional permit other than regular liscense.

Pin oak requires a seperate permit that can be bought at the lodge office. Your bwra permit wont cover it.

Great info. Thks guys. Gonna see if I can get a cabin in oct sometime. Looks like they have docks to tie up so I can leave the boat in the water too without having to pull it in and out hopefully
