Since I made the commitment to get up this morning I decided to proceed with my hunting plans. With the occasional gusty breeze and winter mix I'm thinking it would be a better day for ducks than deer. Since I'm here though I will wait it out and, who knows, maybe get lucky? Anyone else enjoying this weather?
 
Thought about it but decided to stay in. And I hate not going because you got that what if going thru your mind. Never know ole bigger may come thru. Good luck.

Had a doe come out of nowhere at first light. My buddy jumped a buck by his stand and he just had 2 more g go by him. It's not bad between the gusts. But it is COLD.
 
Had some turkey move through out of sight and a few squirrel, no deer yet. But the snow mix has stopped and the wind has slowed. Maybe they'll start moving soon .
 
Swinging in the breeze here. Saw two dead bucks on the side of the road this morning on the way to my spot. They're getting it on their minds. Good luck to those out today.
 
Doe crossed creek to me and tempted me at 17 yards for a while. Climbed down at 8:50 and made my way out, jumped a 8 point out in the wide open at 9:20. The doe was edgy and the buck was horny and I'd say the rut is finally starting here in Williamson......
 
Was swaying near the dove fields at yahanali in Columbia. Saw nothing but swear I heard some action behind me, too thick to see. Was cold! Sad I didn't see anything. Looking forward to some back yard deer at a friends property in Williamson co. tomorrow afternoon.
 
Got in the tree at 8 after the heavy mix quit and sat there in a calm cold wind just peaceful as can be. Had a spike and doe come in off the ridge and grunted them across a chest high (to me) creek all the way to 15 yards and shot the doe. She ran 40-50 yards and I watched her fall. First ever kill in the snow and the most peaceful morning in the tree I can think of.
 
I climbed in my stand and 5 minutes later, I could hear movement....still dark, saw the body, not sure if it was a buck or doe, didn't matter, was probably 6am, about 7 I looked out into the field and I watched a young buck walk...about 100yds away, then I rattled in another buck...but he was on neighbors property..despite only being 20yds away, I got down at 830, and went to check my cameras and saw something out in the beans, two deer...8pt dogging a doe...no chance to get ahead and wind was wrong, so I watched him in the binoculars....huge rack, lots of mass....just another reason to pass up younger deer.....hope he is still around for our opener...didn't have him on any trail camera pictures...wind was crazy so I called it a day at 10, headed back out around 4 I think, probably going to use a decoy.
 
Still hunted and killed an 8 at 5 yards chasing a doe. Grunted and he about ran over me.
 
Missed a doe that looked like she came over on the ark. Ran back to the house to check everything. Some how I started shooting 4" low with the cross bow. Adjusted the scope and going back in the morning to try and redeem myself
