For those of you who aren't you are missing out on one of the joys of deer hunting. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to pick out a deer in the woods if it ain't moving. Ive had em at 20 yards and couldn't see em, my dad thought I was crazy until we found out. Blood trailing is even worse, I've watched deer fall and couldn't follow the blood trail. At least I still got my ears, may not be able to see em but at least I can listen to them walk by.
Anyone else colorblind?

Ha ha , i knew that comment was coming. But it is 10 times harder when everything blends in that much more. I can't even enjoy the leaves changing colors in the fall unless I put on my polarized glasses, it seems to help some , just not for the blood trailing - I get made fun of when I say hey look at that deer and the reply would be, " That's a bush". I try !

Im curious about color blindness. Is it that you see no color or is it just that certain color wavelengths appear the same to you? Either way, that sucks man. Here's to hoping that you have many "active" deer in all your seasons.
I see all colors its just variations - whats brown to me is green to others and so on - like when the leaves change I have trouble picking out the red , just like why I can't see blood good in the leaves - they said I'm colorblind in all colors - my papaw was colorblind and now I am , they say it skips a generation so my kids kids will probably be colorblind. As long as I can tell a red light from a green light , all should be okay. lol

Sorry to hear that. If it skips generations and you have it then maybe your kids wont. Either way, at least you can still drive and still get out there to kill some meat.

My best friend is color blind but says he only has trouble out of like 3 colors tho so its not to bad but he says he can see all colors but hard time distinguishing them. That sux tho man
My dad is really colorblind. I am partial.Real dark colors all look the same to me. I can see red alright and brown alright. But purple,black, and dark blue. Forget it!DKO77 said:

I am partially color blind also. Haven't had many problems, but you are correct, it does make following a blood trail difficult sometimes!
I didn't know I was until I took my flight physical and they pulled out the book with the numbers hidden in the different colored dots - only could see a couple of the numbers, lol

I am. I get blue and purple mixed up and red blends in with brown, therefore I have trouble tracking blood. I am still able to track blood, but I have to be standing right over it to see it. I cannot spot blood an any distance like some of my hunting buddies. That is the main reason I am very selective with my bow shots. I very seldom shoot past 25 yards. I also have trouble seeing the orange flag tape when it is hanging on tree limbs with leaves. It just doesn't stand out to me like it does to others.
I am "color deficient". I signed up for the Navy and qualified for the 6 year Nuclear Power Program when I was 17, but when they tested my eyesight, they found out I was color deficient and Honorably Discharged me. I have trouble distinguishing certain colors. The most noticeable problem I have is blood trailing. I cannot follow a blood trail and as I have gotten older and my eyesight has gotten a little worse, it is even harder. If I have to follow a blood trail, I have to get help. What is so hard for me to spot, others can see without any trouble.

My friends will tell you I am as color blind as anyone can be. The people who hunt with me will also tell you that I will see a deer before anyone else about 99 percent of the time. If a deer does anything I will pick it out. When I was little, I would tell my dad to stay still because a deer was looking at us (he is not color blind) and he would ask where do you see a deer? I would tell him where the deer was, and he would say I don't see a deer. I would say I saw its ear or tail twitch or some movement. He wouldn't believe me and I would tell him to move toward it and when the deer took off, he would laugh. It still happens all the time. I see all colors, or I can count the number of different colors there are, but I generally can't tell you what colors are what correctly. Those color blind test where something is hidden, a letter or a number, I can draw a line and see what is hidden, but without drawing I will never see the number or letter. I can't follow blood for crap. I am very blessed to have several friends who help me during bow season and it has been very much appreciated.

I am also color blind or "deficient" some blue and purple will blend together. Sometimes red/green and reds and browns.
To me, I can always see the colors there but can not accurately tell you what color it is.
And the same for all of you, blood trailing is a major pain for me. But I can get it done eventually. Just cant see it from huge distance.
