Anyone draggin out the shotgun this weekend?

Tough thing to do during bow season and not being able to legally carry a bow at the same time.

I want at least 1 or 2 birds, will have to cross county lines since they changed the limits this year, but I will carry the shotgun a couple of times during the 2 week season. Then after that, it's time to start thinking more bout the big bucks as the rut approaches.

Who's bringing a shotgun out for fall turkey season?

I would really like to have another bird to fry up for Thanksgiving, but I don't have much faith in my chances of killing one in the fall. I've been hoping I would get a crack at one while deer hunting.

The whole idea is akin to deer hunting in April.
But I'm sure some would still like to see a 2-week deer season in April.

As I understand it, about half the fawns die (various causes) before the end of August, so since the idea of fall turkey hunting is predicated on hunting this year's hatch (half will die anyway), wouldn't it make just as much sense to have an August fawn deer season? I hear young fawns are really tasty and extra tender, even better than young hen turkey poults.

Y'all must not like eating wild turkey that much. It's not like a spring deer season because I still have deer meat left in the spring. Me I like to smoke one whole and then have another one to cut strips of the breast and make hot fried turkey and cook down the legs and make BBQ sandwiches

Highly doubt it this year. Time is limited, and i want to spend it deer hunting. I had an ok spring season, so not itching to kill one. Also Priest is closed and I have only been seeing the hens at my place and I won't shoot any of those.

Yelp them up grasshopper. Single them out and kill them clean. Don't let the "armchair" biologists rattle you. The good Lord gave us them turkeys and a Fall season for a reason. The boy makes good use of every one he kills. Got to respect that ;) I'll be doing my best to yelp up a longbeard in the morning.

been watching over a hundred this week on one farm I don't believe one or two hens will hurt lol

Before someone gets in trouble for shooting an illegal turkey out of season,
be sure to check your county regs in advance of shooting a turkey, whether with bow or with a shotgun.

It's legal in some counties, not so in others.

Bird hunting during deer season is like picking up your sister after 3:00 am. Just not right.... Lol
