Here is a great story...This is a true story...We hunt in Idaho around Sept. for elk...I was walking with my cousin (Eric) and wifes uncle (Jerry)at the base of a ridge that was around 7500 feet...We had a rooster on the ground and my cousin laughing slung an arrow and missed...In the mean time 2 more hens walked up in the confusion and I told Jerry Ibet I could kill them with a stick...Laughing I picked up a stick and walked over and smacked one in the neck...She laid there...The other one flew up in a tree and watched me walk over and wack the rooster with an arrow in the neck and killed him...Then the one in the tree flew down along with another hen and landed next to the two already dead...I simply swung and wacked both of them with an arrow...4 grouse with a stick...Who could even make this stuff up...We ate good the next morning for breakfast...Come to find out I told this story to someone in town in McCall Idaho and they said those grouse were called fool grouse...

I have a buddy with great grouse dogs. His dad hunts them to death. They say the grouse is disappearing from around here. They are use to killing alot and for the past 4 years they are lucky to kill or jump 1 a trip.... very sad....

Never hunted the ataya property myself but did do some work up there. There were alot of grouse but I heard this year it was no linger public and all locked up in leases by the timber management company.

Really I hadn't heard that. I think I even have a friend whose Dad has been hunting up there. I hope they don't lock it up completely. It is a pretty good place to get away and hunt for a day.
