So, I traded into a super slick Ruger 77/300SAUM.. Initial thought was to pass it on, but after reading a little I'm a tad interested in the round. Granted the ammo is stupid high, did find it on sale for 37box and free shipping so I ordered 3 boxes of 165 PSP's.

Anybody with any history on this round?
 
I haven't played around with mine too much . But both my nephew and i have dropped deer with it at 300 yards plus

I'm hoping this one shoots well with the 165's I bought for it.. I got a stupid good deal on it because It's a saum so if it shoots well it's a keeper.
 
I bought one new when Remmy put the model 700's on closeout as a stainless/ synthetic for $400 new several years ago. I was only getting 2900 fps with the 165's, so I sold it off for $450 a year later. My buddy got the exact same one I got at the same time, but he was getting 3000 fps or so with the same load. Not a bad round, needs to be handloaded, tho

Never shot a saum but I have a wsm. I easily got 3000fps with 180s out of it and am at nearly 2900 with 200 grain bullets now. Crazy your saum was that much slower.
