I found what I think is a good deal on a boat, but I want a mechanic to check it out. It is a 40hp Yamaha oil injected, but I can't find any tags to get model info from.
 
Taylor's Repair in Decatur. He is a retired Yamaha dealer. I can pm you his number.
 
I have been reccomended to use Nichol's Marine in Red Bank by a few different people locally. It is located close to where the boat is at right now. Thanks for the input. If I do get this boat, I may get the info for Taylor's from you for future service, BIGB. Decatur is pretty close to me.
 
He's good. I have a 30hp Nissan 4 stroke that the jets gum up on due to the new gas we have. The carbs have to be under vacuum to set them up and he is the only none deal mechanic I know that has the tools to do it. I have a 2012 Yamaha and wouldn't be nervous at all about letting him work on it.

Well, I took it to Nichols and the wiring/electrical/controls were problematic. The guy at Nichols told me that the owner was asking a decent price for the way that the boat sat, but it would take a few dollars to get it operating correctly. I don't have that kind of $, so I will be out of pocket $85 for the checkup instead of a lot more for the repairs.
 
I second James Perry if you go to Chattanooga fishing forum and look at some of his process of building fixing motors he explains it all so in the future I would recommend giving him a call
