Saturday will be my first time hunting TVA land, I'll be on Ft Loudon lake and have found what I think will be a decent setup. My question is...how much pressure should I expect? I know how public land goes so it won't shock me at all if there are vehicles there when I arrive....that's why I have 2 other spots picked out!
 
I don't know about hunting pressure around Ft Loudon, but the TVA land I hunt isn't too bad. Granted I've never hunted on a weekend. Last year I would only hunt it on a week day. Some places have terrible pressure where some places don't have hardly any. And with most other places, if you walk a bit farther you'll have a better chance. The TVA land I primarily focus on is only about 3-400 acres and you wouldn't believe how many people won't walk past the first field. My strategy for the TVA land is to be there before everyone else and make sure I get the stand I sought out for that morning.
 
Does tva powerline right of ways count?I have one through the middle of my property that is a great rifle spot.I can see for a mile or better.
 
Thats all I have to hunt. I have been hunting state land for years. I am only 28, but I have had my ups and downs on tva land. One of my best spots are about 80-100 yds off a main hwy and everyone parks and walks right past it. Other spots, you have to look at topo maps, walk further than anyone, and get there before them. I used to hate early season due to ticks and mosquitos, but as I have gotten older I have learned that the deer have been unmolested for months and you have less hunters in the woods right now versus MZL or gun seasons. If your gonna hunt TVA, get there early and get in there now.

I drive past the TVA property just west of Watts Bqar Dam and there are usually several cars parked at the access points all thru deer and Turkey seasons.

Anything west of the water tower is legal. I have always intended to scout it, but it DOES get a lot of pressure

Right of ways are right of ways, not free public access. If it is on your land, then it is still your land. If it crosses someone else's land, then it is their land and not legal to hunt unless you get landowner permission. TVA has blocks of land, mostly along the rivers, that are usually legal to access/hunt as long as you do not hunt safety zones. These can be found online.

There is a lot of property there and a lot of deer. I hunted there several years ago and always saw deer.
 
The biggest deer I worked on last year was a 150" 8pt that came from TVA land.

I never hunt TVA land, only because I barely have enough time to hunt my other property. I did turkey hunt some TVA land in East TN while I was in school at UT.
 
I'll be hunting some TVA land in the morning, not bad during archery but there is pretty good pressure in ML/gun season.

I hunt a lot of TVs/corp land, but I go by boat not usually in the a.m. I like afternoons to go get setup and hunt easier. That usually creates oportunties from people walking in from the road pushing them to me.
