....about a scope to kill prarie dogs with? I am looking at a Mueller Eraticator 8.5x25x50 to go on a savage 223. Plan on going to South Dakota to kill prarie dogs in June. Specifically would like to know about the clarity of the optics but I'll take any pertinent information. Never owned one but the reviews seem to be pretty high. Thanks!

Yeah man.....been about two years in the making for several reasons but if we drive I will take my 223 and probably a 308.....just because....lol!

I've got a Leupy on the 308 but I was looking hard at the Mueller.
 
Nothing huh??? I'm the same way.....not heard of them till recently. The reviews all sound good, just wish there were more reticule options.

What about a Horus....anybody have experience with one of those?
 
Don't know anything about those but I've been happy with my Simmons Whitetail Classic that I've had since '93. It's not as bright as my Nikon Monarch in very low light but it's fine for all legal hunting light. I don't think these have been made for about 10 years or more but Midway still has wome in stock for a good price. Mine's a 3.5-10 but they only have the higher powers left. Lots of reviews on Midways site.

Thanks HogBear! Great prices for sure on the Whitetail Classic in the power I am looking for. Will say that I would like a little more robust reticule though. Maybe a mil-dot or a varmint reticule (I know...that is an open ended term!) to help with windage and elevation without constant manipulation. OHHHH...THE HUMANITY!!!!!

The reticule of the Mueller keeps me from hopping on it. The Horus boasts a zero at 300 yards that will give you a range out to 700+/- yards....blah, blah, blah.
