Any problems with the shockwave?

I bought the new impact last year and some shockwave bullets to go with it I was using 3 777 pellets and it shot very well opening morning shot a doe a little high in the sholder dropped her but got back up before I could get to her . finally found her after 2 hour tracking job and had to deliver a finishing shop not much of blood trail and very small exit hole the size of the bullet any one had similar problems? switched to 240 grain xtp great blood trails if they leave there tracks.

I had expansion issues with them as well. I only shoot 2 777 pellets and everyone told me that I had to shoot 3 pellets for them to expand correctly. I just swapped to the XTPs and never looked back. Didn't really even see a difference in accuracy.

yes they are junk i have dug them out of the ground where i was practicing and didnt expand at all they looked like they hadnt even been shot.

I don't shoot anything but Barnes in my 777 or Blackhorn guns now, the shockwave/SST does work well in smokeless muzzleloaders where you can really ramp up the speed. At smokeless velocities they are very accurate and expand very well.

I have been shooting the 300 grain shockwaves in my T/C Black Diamond and they are very accurate. Not had the chance to shoot a deer with one yet.

I have had good luck with them. I have killed quite a few deer with them and no deer went more than 30 yards. I am shooting Remington 700 ML with 100 grains of 777.

I have dropped two deer with the yellow tips. Maybe it was good luck.

the standard shockwaves seemed to be marginal. i had problems with them over expanding. i switched to bonded shockwaves and never had any problems, even with hits a little too far back.

That's interesting, from what I've read most people have a problem with the regular ones not expanding at all or under-expanding. Now if you push them smokeless at 2500 fps, the expand VERY well.

hmmm, the last time i used the standard shockwaves was maybe 6 years ago. i wonder if they changed the construction of that bullet and made it too tough.

i have only shot the shockwave for 2 years now and i have only pulled the trigger 7 times but i killed all 7 deer and none went any farther than 50 yards! the bullets are just fine imo and i will continue to shoot them.

Standard shockwaves are very acurate in my Encore but exhibited practically NO expansion.

i used the 295gr. power belts and the 300gr shockwaves and never had any problems they always drop right there in their tracks.

I shoot 100 grains of 777 loose and TC Shockwaves. No problems whatsoever. Killed several deer, none of which left my sight.

Have also had issues. One lost deer and a couple runners. Switching to hollow point hornadys this year. Dad shoots them to good effect. I am a 100gr shooter. Think the hp will be better at that velocity.

I had very good results with the shockwaves. Hadn't recovered any as they all have been "go-throughs". Blood trails have been good and exit holes have been good. I'll stuff some more down the pipe this fall.

I learned the same lesson as you timberjack...no shoulder shots at less than 50 yards. If you that close go for the head or neck.
