Well, to make a long story short. We got to the river and were taking on water. Looked under the boat and found this when I got home. Small crack, maybe two inches. How can I fix this ol canoe?

You can see where it's laid open a little just above the key..

Duct tape or something called liquid solder. It will stick to poly if you rough it up pretty good. Simms fills the cracks on his with contest entries that did not win. :)

I have repaired a few like that. The best thing I've found is a multi-step process. First, use a very small drill bit and put a hole at each end of the crack. This stops the crack from expanding any further. Then use a generous amount of JB Weld to cover the crack on the inside and outside of the canoe. Coat that with a good solid epoxy that is impact resistant.

It'll be bulletproof after that.
