I got a box really cheap on clearence at a store going out of business for my new .270wsm. They shoot pretty darn good out of it so far but I only shot it 7 times but groups were pretty good. Still a little tweaking to do with the scope and gun.

Not experienced with performace on deer or long range accuracy, say out to 400 yards. Most shots under 200.

My gut feeling tells me to stay with the Federal Premium with the Triple Shock Barnes. Been veryyyyyyyy good in my other three rifles. Little pricey though but worth it.

I didn't know they quit making the failsafe. I've shot several with the Ballistic Silvertips (one at 300lbs up north) and had nothing but great performance.

Probably stay with the Barnes. LOL
 
I have an A-bolt in 270wsm. I have shot the Ballistic Silvertips they are no good to me, the bullet punched right through a couple of deer and a bobcat in one morning. I recovered one of the deer that I shot and the only reason I think I recovered that deer was it was so close the velocity just knock him over!! After glancing him over I discovered the exit hole was the same as the entrance. I never found blood or other deer and bobcat that morning and lost another deer on a separate occasion. Don't have experience with the Failsafe, but the Powerpoints WWWOOOWWW!!! These get the job DONE can't go wrong with a lead head unless you shoot Remingtons!!!!!

I still have a box for the '06 that say "black talon" and one with the "fail-safe". Couldn't group at all out of my gun, but my brothers Identical savage 110 loved them. They did not expand on a deer at all. We even shot them at a 55 gallon drum full of dirt and basically just bent the tip of the bullet.

Absolutely! Barnes is the way to go. If you look at the cost of the bullet compared to everything else you spend on hunting, it's really not worth doing the math.
