I still havent decided what to plant this fall. I know I want to create a buffet for the deer on my land. I have decided to build my plot from scratch with seed's from the co-op or another source. I know I want clover and brassicas. What about chickory? Any thing else I should consider? Whats the best clover type? This will be the first year I get serious about food plots.

Look at my threads about TNDroptine's place.

We disced in Winter wheat, oats ,and austrian winter peas, then top sowed a clover, chicory mix , and man does it look awesome! Mix in some brassicas when you cast the clover and you'll have the golden coral of food plots!! lol

Yup, what jmb4wd said - I think the key was mixing in the wheat and oats with the clover/chicory mix. It definitely made a huge difference in keeping the weeds controlled in the patch and allows the clover the chance to establish. The following year you will have your wheat and oats die off, leaving you with a great stand of clover
