Me and my 13 y/o son just got drawed for the Oct. hunt at Tower Shielding. I have never hunted there and was hoping some of you out there knew more about it. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

There's no reason to hike way back in, there will be people everywhere. Find the thickest, nastiest cover and hunt it. Stay all day, or the longest a 13 year old can sit. I've seen most my deer there, just before and just after lunch. I also quit showing up at 4 am to wait in line and just started going an hour before daylight. You're either going to be the guy that gets there early and has people walking under him all morning, or you're going to be the guy that gets some extra sleep and eats a good breakfast but does the walking. If you stay till Sunday afternoon, you'll have the place to yourself.

Good luck to you and your son.

One other thing. Use your gps to mark your spots. Reflective tacks are worthless there. You'll see what I mean the first time you shine a light through the woods. I don't think there's a tree in the place that doesn't have a tack in it.

agree with dont worry about walking for miles, see where someone isnt and walk in, stay through lunch and if you find a power line hunt it

Hunt the hunters! I will be just across a cove in the Park City unit for the Nov hunt.
