We hunt close to Hickory Valley, TN. We are seeing deer but just not that many compared to years past. Dry weather and warm temperatures appear to have the deer laying low. No scrapes yet and very little Rubs being spotted. At least compared to past years.

Anybody else seeing things differently?

Little bucks pestering but did get the first of the mature bucks on camera during daylight Nov13...black greasy looking hocks. Early early morning but shooting light nonetheless. The incoming cold air should help as i think things should get started this week.

Small bucks and a few does have been moving at our place. We're right outside of Whiteville. I've found 5 or 6 scrapes. Put cameras on them so I'm curious as to what has been hitting them. Seems like most of the deer have been seen in the woods eating acorns.
I was able to shoot a mature 8 point on November 3rd. He stunk, but wasn't interested in any does that were in the field.

Hunted in Grand Junction last weekend. Saw 1 scrape, few small rubs. Does together. Shot an 8pt. Neck wasn't swollen, no odor.

Ive spent all of bow season and first part of muzzle loader season hunting right south of Grand Junction and never laid eyes on a deer. Good luck to you.

Hunting at Ames. 12 hunts with 7 of them seeing nothing. I've seen 8-10 bucks with a couple 120-125" and 1 130". Seen about as many does. Little movement and they started scraping some a couple weeks back. The scraping is picking up so I anticipate much more to come hopefully putting some of them on their feet during daylight. Not surprisingly no rutting action yet. For the most part that should crank up around Thanksgiving or shortly afterwards. At least we should have some decent temperature to hunt in over opening weekend.
