Any fans of Rage?

Bought a pack when they fist come out.Loved them at first.Killed a doe right off the bat and was a devastating entry and exit wound.Two weeks later shot a nice ten pointer,and hit a little left into shoulder.Upon inspection of the arrow,the rage did not expand and was shoved an inch into the arrow.The next weekend I shot high at a coyote and hit a log.Again the Rage didn't expand.Went back to the ole Thunderheads and killed that nice ten the following week.He only had a little hair missing with absolutely no penetration from the Rage.Just wondering if there are some of ya'll with similar results.Noticed the tips are actually sharp now and they have shockcollars instead of orings.Any improvement?Wondering how all those pro staffers on tv make a living shooting these,and how many deer they actually lose that we never see.

im not taking a chance on them. when they work right they are unreal. but I will not take a chance on them. I bought a pack 5 or 6 years ago and never put them on an arrow. but I know some people that use them with great success but I just don't want to take a chance.

I hear a lot of good about them when they do their job... but also hear a lot about poor penetration, opening in flight, or not opening on impact. I will stick with the 100gr Thunderheads. Killed 3 deer with 1 head without resharpening, could have killed more but I lost it on the 3rd deer when it broke off and got lost in the woods.

So far shot two killed two, no complaints . I love'em . I use to shoot muzzy's and like them a lot , they were the go to broad head but I tried rages and love'em . Shot thunderheads once and won't do that again. Blades fell out a lot.

I used them for 4 years, but got tired of messing with them. Flimsy, cheap steel, great loss of energy etc. I switched to Magnus 2 blade

Always considered buying these.Look well made to last a lifetime.How to they fly?

I got some last year and have yet to kill a deer with them. Are the rear deploying ones that everyone is having trouble out of? It looks to me like they should be more dependable.

I use them but only because I got two 3-packs of the titanium ones for 50% off early last year at Gander. They are more durable than the standard Rage. Only shot one deer with them so far, and it performed flawlessly. Somehow managed to lose the arrow, though. Looked all over and couldn't find it.

Hmmm....I just took a look at the Rage website for the first time in a while and see that the titanium product is discontinued. No surprise considering how much they were charging for them.

It will be interesting to hear how the new Rage Hypodermic model performs this year. Anyone here going to be using them?

That is all I use. Love em, never had a single problem with em. They make a huge entrance hole and exit. Looks like you walked down the trail pouring out a gallon of blood. I use the 100 grain 2 blade.

I believe Rage is one of the best selling, if not the best selling, broadhead of the past few years.

Last year the same parent company that owns Rage purchased Muzzy. Now they are both supposedly made at the same Muzzy plant in Georgia. I wonder what all the Muzzy-loving, Rage-haters have to say about that! :D

3 Blade Rage are the way to go,I have killed 8-9 deer with them in the past 3yrs and watched everyone of them fall with in sight of my tree stand.The proof for me is in my freezer.

I use Magnus Stinger 4 blade 100 grain.

I bought 12 heads.

That's 4 packs at about 26.00 per 3-pack.
104 dollars up front investment.

Each season I send back used heads and Magnus sends me BRAND NEW heads FREE. And usually a t-shirt.

Total cost after up front investment...ZERO!!!

Fly great out of a tuned bow.

EXTREMELY sharp.

Great blood trails.

Great penetration.

NEVER open pre-mature.

Why are you saying that it's 1 Rage per deer? They sell replacement blades, tips and o-rings. What are they for?

I have shot them for years and love them. Never had one fail on me and usually watch the deer fall in sight. I am not one to kill more than 2 or 3 deer with a bow usually during one season but I believe I have put about 12 down with them and absolutely love them. No turning back for me.

After the 2 deer i shot last year with mine, both heads are being reused this year and in my quiver, very very minimal damage to them . I'm sure I won't be that lucky all the time though

Rage are devastating on lung area.....but thru the scapula they fail because upon hard bone they cant seem to fully deploy. If you stay with them you need to be a lung sort of guy or aim or heart....but stay away from thick bone.....they will kill on a spine shot. I have taken about 10 with them now and only had a problem on a solid shoulder shot because of the bone. I am now using the trocar looking tip...this may solve the problem...but haven't shot one in solid bone yet. More to follow! :)

I had a track record of 11 deer with one thunderhead several years ago.Finally had one blade break.Replaced the blades and still killing deer with that 1 head to date.I know theres alot of luck with the blades not breaking after 11 deer, but I'd have to say some craftsmanship is playing a roll too.

The steel they use is garbage. It does not sharpen well and the blades are usually irreparably bent after one kill. While they do offer replacement blades, the vast majority of their customer base consider the broad heads to be disposable AND This works out well for Rage. Monetarily speaking, it's a terrible deal for the consumer, despite being popular. What can I say? Apparently, Kenny Chesney has fans, too....

Mine have the titanium body and I guarantee this Rage customer doesn't consider them to be disposable. Planning to use replacement blades on these Rage titaniums just like I would replacement blades on a Havalon.

Rage does have replacement blades available.

In our hunting camp, we have ten or so dedicated bowhunters.
Between all of us, we kill upwards of over 40 deer per season. Sometimes MANY more.

We have all tried Rage, and probably every other popular broadhead available over the last 30 years.

Actually my favorite expandable was a Rocky Mountain Gator. (which I believe is now sold by BPS as a Gator XP.)

We also all had trouble replacing mechanical blades. Tiny screws.

We like shooting brand new ferrules. Bent ferrules, even SLIGHTLY bent, do not tend to fly well.

I really have only one complaint about the Rage head. COST.

We all used to use Thunderheads. Very good heads.
We also like Muzzy.

But FREE is best. As long as performance is good.

And for us, and a bunch of really big boned, fat mature deer, (and little ones too) Magnus has worked very well.

I've used rage for 3 years and have no complaints.

A solid bone shot with any broadhead is a bad shot and a good chance of a deer not being killed or recovered.

I do agree about the negative of the cost, although I believe most mechanicals are about the same. I have replaced blades several times and have yet to have a bent ferrule

I will eventually shoot a different head, but it'll have to wait until I'm out of the heads I already have

Have not ever used and rage heads. I do love my muzzys. I'm more of a fixed blade guy I want they smallest chance of something going wrong. I say that but do have a pack of shwackers being sent to me right now to field test
