I'm not aware of any pressing issues for any deer reg changes.

This was the TWRA release after the April Commission meeting:

The release also requests input concerning the recommendations from the April meeting. It sounds like there will be further discussion on the antlered buck regulation.

Oak Ridge could get a whole lot harder to draw. Cutting the buck tags in half and adding antlerless only hunts for the same dates. No one is going to put in for the antlerless only hunts when there are buck hunts going on at the same time. Good luck with that.

Only thing I hope changes is that I kill enough to have meat in the freezer the whole year and kill a big buck! Haven't had either of those happen in many a year.

I think they are going about the Oak Ridge hunts all wrong. If they want to have more deer killed, they need to create more opportunities, not less. I think they'd get a lot more killed if they added a Friday to the hunts. The Sunday turnout is always real low and they've proven at Catoosa that Friday and Saturday have the most hunters. Something makes me think that TWRA aren't the ones making these decisions and that the folks within Oak Ridge are the ones pushing these cuts.

The first two hunts are pre-rut/rut hunts. Few people will be willing to give up a chance to kill a buck to hunt an anterless only tag. The December hunt can be sometimes drawn as a second hunt. It's already so unpopular it doesn't draw out with first choice applicants. Make it antlerless only and no one will show up.

I think you are right. I know the new manager up there and I think the social and political challenges of oak ridge surprised him.
