Any 222 Rem shooters?

only one I ever got serious with shot the 52 SMK and H322 in the same hole ,I dont have the dies and that is where I keep my loads written down,,it seems like it shot 4198 really well also,I remember it being picky about the primers,,like I said I am going off memory but I think it had to have Rem primers,,
it was more like shooting rimfire smallbore,,if you got in a groove and got a routine down you could really make some good lookin targets at 100 yards,,
it was an older 700 Varmint Special with a 36 XBR Leupold .
Norma Brass 52 Sierra and H322 with Rem primers,,that is where I would start..

My BIL shoots triple deuce at 200 yards and cries if he can see more than one hole. 4198 is what he uses. The case is so small, primer indeed makes a difference, I can't remember what he uses but he does switch primers with various bullet weights and I know he never used more than two powders. He keeps the cans too. He does his loading on a Forster co-axial I think they call it, you could FL size 50 cal with the thing and never break a sweat.
I will ask him for his recipes. If he gives me a hard time, I'll remind him his beloved glock 10mm can't hit the side of a barn from inside the barn.

I think I am going to try some 50 gr Sierra Blitzkings for my bullets. It seems like H322 and 4198 are very popular. I was thinking of trying Benchmark and Ramshot Xterminator as well. The gun shoots 1/2" groups with factory 50 gr Rem ammo, if I can improve on that with handloads, I will will be tickled pink.

I am sure some of the new powders would work as well as 322,,but they were not available back when,,
I bet RL 7 would be good also,,

Well, my BIL is not a big time shooter and as a matter of fact, he had a flinch so bad with his 270 he couldn't hit paper at 50. However, for his 222 He loads careful-tends to stay with one bullet weight-but he does do case neck turning and always neck sizes. Keeps cases separated by weight,same for bullets. All his gear except powder scale is Forster. he tends to buy Nosler bullets. The barrel is clean.
You want to get smaller than factory just pay attention to details and work up a load for your rifle. Should take a fair piece of time unless you get very lucky. At 100 yards you should have one-hole targets. You do your part, that triple duece will de-sex a flea at 200 yards and not leave a mark.
