Since this is my trees first year,and since were getting all this rain,and Im not expecting ant fruit from em this year,any reason not to push em with the fertilizer?
This 1st year it is important to get good root growth to support the tree. Too much fertilizer could cause excessive top growth without enough root structure to support the tree.If you have any fruit you should pinch it off to let all the energy go toward root growth.I wouldn't push them . I like to use a good time release fertilizer.A little Super Thrive will work wonders !!!
Super Thrive comes in several size bottles. I know Walmart has it I think H.D. has it.Follow the directions it seems expenisive but you only use a few DROPS per gallon.
Several years ago I worked with U.T. on some trials with it.We Treated several fruit trees and plants with it and had several without.There was a very large inprovement in growth and production in the trees and plants that we used Super Thrive on. I'm not sure what all is in it ?? Vitamins,minerials and Hormones mostly.Things fertilizers alone do not put into the soil.Because you water to apply it gets absorbed directly by the roots.
