What would be the purpose of shooting sub-sonic rounds?

If fired through a suppressor, it will be very quiet because it will not crack the sound barrier.

if you are shooting at a range that the bullet will slow down under the speed of sound before it reaches your target your accuracy will suffer.as the bullet reaches the same speed as sound it causes the bullet to do crazy things,,

when shooting a weapon that is suppressed you want subsonic ammo to eliminate the sonic crack,,

They're awesome to fire out of a suppressor. .308 sounds about like a pellet gun.

Shot a HK 417 the other day suppressed full power loads still only sounded like a .22 mag. I love the Army!!!
