It was miserable early. I got close but didn't pan out. So I drove 30 minutes to another spot. Just long enough to get warmed up. I fianally found a cooperative one around 9:30. The whole flock was right behind him but he was leading the charge. He came around the bend in the road drumming. He got nervous at that point, probably because he could see the rest of the road and the hen he heard wasn't there. But he was already at 15 yards, and the .410 was already trained.
