Another old catalog......

This time a Gander Mtn May'71- March'72 catalog.


Below is part of the Redfield section for that year. My uncle bought a used 2x-7x Widefield at about this time for 20$ still mounted and used today.

I wonder if they would match those prices today?? LOL


BTW the Leupold Vari X II 2x-7x listed @ 64.50$ with the 3x-9x @ 71.50$ also listed were Weavers and Bausch&Lomb. 1st time I recall seeing a price on a NEW B&L Balvar Custom Var 2.5-8x 69.95$ the ones without internal adjustments had to do that with mounts that allowed it to be switched from rifle to another without changeing zero.A late uncle used 1 scope on his varmint and deer rifle,my dad has the 'ol Rem 725 but without that scope.

I bought a S&W rifle, that had an old redfield on it.

I bought the 3X9 Redfield Widefield in 1971 for my Rem 742 30.06 and still have it today. It works as good as it did back then.

I've got one on my .243 (bottom rifle). Less than $100 30 years ago and still going strong!

Can't say about those but I do like the 1.5-5 Widefields I've manageed to pick up here and there,those didn't come till '72.

Speaking of old catalogs,as a kid I would sit and look through the Herter's catalogs for hours. Good stuff, too!
