We've put in 800 trees in 3 weekends. All bare root. Ive also still got about a dozen chestnuts, a few apple, and pears that are all 3 years old sitting on the deck waiting to be put in still. Also got 100 more chestnut and a 100 more sawtooth that should be in any day...

Naw well not me at least...I just ran the tractor...LOL...Had 2 teenagers helping one planting the other working the auger and cleaning out the holes! I did suffer a lil bit of a crick in my neck from having to look back so much though....LOL

Football Hunter, I think you have reached the only limit for planting trees - no spot left for more! Looks good. I'm anxious to see how these tree plantings work out in the future. Theoretically at least, those of us doing this should leave behind some real wildlife paradises for the future generations.

I'm just curious...those of you that plant 100s of trees do you actually go through and prune them and prune them again as the years go by or just plant them and leave them and let them become what they become?

I just wondered because I prune mine and pruned about a dozen this past Saturday and it is not difficult per se' but it is time consuming.

Grass control and keeping tubes cleaned out is most time consuming for me.This year Im spraying,Does anybody know if roundup will hurt the trees if they are sprayed while being covered by a tree tube?
Make sure the roundup does not come in contact with the leaves and you are good. My tubes are solid at the bottom (holes dont start until about 2 foot up) which helps protect the leaves. I keep my spray low to the ground and dont spray on windy days.

Shouldnt hurt,I spray around mine several times each summer
