While I've already seen a fawn up and running with his/her mother, I just got a picture of a doe that is still pregnant. What is the cause for such a discrepancy in birth dates?

different conception times. There arent bred all on the dame day!

Which i find utterly fascinating and would love to learn more on this. Last year in Lauderdale county ala. the wardens went on night hunting excursions to shoot some does for research to determine fawning conceptions and it was enlightening to say the least cause some of the does in the nw part of the state were bred much earlier in nov. than the traditional times of dec, and jan for other parts of lauderdale county. there is a really wide range there and is separated it seems by the Tn river where below it is more traditional jan breeding and north of it is closer but varied to our tn rut. by the time the rut is trickling down in lawrence and wayne counties it is starting to heat up there and this is consistent year after year.
