Or well, I guess this could be considered an any loose powder question. I have always used pellets in my muzzleloaders. Right now with my CVA Optima, which I may or may not still be using next season, with 2 triple 7 pellets and a TC shockwave the ramrod goes all the way down the barrel. It is like basically flush with the end of the barrel. The pellets aren't the same diameter as the barrel and one would think that if the powder was the same volume it would spread out more and let the bullet go farther down the barrel. Could I get into a situation where my ramrod could be to short. I guess with the break down design they couldn't make it longer without it sticking out past the end of the barrel.
 
I have a very dumb question that I have to ask, did you unscrew the extension that comes on the cva ramrods? Maby all muzzleloader ramrods do it I dont know, im new but it took me a sec to figure it out on my wolf.

I think mine was pretty easy the first time I unscrewed it, it unscrews regular then pulls out a few inches then reverse tightens in the extended position. But hmm the tip should still unscrew tho I think so you can change the tip and still use like a screw on palm saver on the other end. Ill look here in a sec to see if there are any other identifying characteristics
 
I didn't know anything about the ramrod extending & honestly wasn't exactly sure what you were talking about. I just looked at mine and it does extend. If I have to use that I would have to leave it screwed out in case I had to reload in the field.
 
I can honestly reload in about 30-45 seconds with a couple speedloader in my pocket and some primers in a little baggy and extending the ramrod from carry position. When "fast" loading I dont use a bullet startee the cva bullet guiding muzzle is enough for a quick reload. Itd probably only save you a mater of a second or two to unscrew it. As far as sound and movement ive noticed that if you even get a second shot they seem a little dazed from the first blast lol
 
Cant say this to be true in all cases but the reason the Ramrods extend is for cleaning not loading. Learn something new everyday.
