Have read and seen alot of good post today, several great deer being harvested !! I personally had one of the best days in the woods that I can remember. Got the new Fanatic Hammock Chair in and today was the test, I LOVE it !! Absolutely comfortable and beats the heck outta sittn on wet muddy ground. I had it on a tree maybe 6" around and it couldnt have worked better.
I killed a buck a little bigger than this one in the same spot last year. This particular place is thick as all get out and only the second time in 2 years that I have hunted in there partly because of getting turned around and lost but with the help of BackCountry Navigator it is my go to spot for a mature buck now.
I sat no longer than 25 minutes at a time without seeing deer, honestly cant say how many I did see because I lost count !! Granted some were just brief seconds as they were moving through the thickets but they were on there feet. Had five come by that I could have spit on they were so close. This fellow was following a doe but not what I call chasing her although when I seen her I knew she had a follower, mouth open and tongue hanging !! At first I didnt think I was going to get a shot as I stopped him twice and both times he was behind saplings but the third time was the charm...80 yard heart shot and watched him fall 20 yards later (thankfully) left no blood trail !! There was another doe and 6pt with him also..
If I had to guess I seen around 30 plus deer from daylight to when I pulled the trigger at 10:35.. I need to invest in a deer cart for that spot for next year as I probably wont go back in there this season.
