Annual with clover?

We had about two acres of clover that was established and did really well for three or four years, but it finally played out. We got the weeds killed out and disced and replanted a couple of weeks ago. The clover is coming up and looks great thus far, but I've read where many people recommend planting a cool weather annual like rye as a cover crop with fall clover, as the clover won't be really well established until spring. What are your thoughts on this?

Always do that. I always overseed wheat into existing clover too so its there when the cold knocks clover back.

The over-seed of wheat will actually help take grazing pressure of of the clover and allow it to reach maturity.

Winter wheat works well............
