Haven't seen this thread yet, but seems like it's time. I haven't been hunting yet and haven't checked cameras in a couple weeks. But, seems like it's starting. We bought a new house out in the country in June. I see deer regularly but hadn't seen a buck. Walked out to my truck this morning and had a really mature buck standing on my frosty pond bank. Respectable rack, but huge body and sagging belly. Built like a whiskey barrel. And these aren't tame subdivision deer. Good to see a mature buck on his feet in daylight. Weakley County.

Carry on.

Had a new range shifter buck hit my cell camera on a scrape yesterday at 8am in TN. I think he's 4.5, prob 125". First pic I've gotten of an older buck in daylight since early Sepember.

Seen a nice mature buck chase a doe all the way across a corn field yesterday-Grundy

Can we add what counties to these threads?

Rutherford - Small buck chasing a doe early this morning at my work. Feeling his oats!

Sequatchie/Grundy sign popping up and shot a younger buck that was ready to fight! Postured up with ears laid back. Responded to grunt and snort-wheeze. Should be about perfect for muzzy.

Saw a decent fresh scrape this morning. Buddy of mine has made a few mock scrapes and has trail cam pics at night of a few bucks going to them. Location is Unicoi County.
Question is it to early to use doe in heat lure scent?

Went this morning wasn't as active as I thought it would be?

Had a 4 point chase 2 does into the woods behind me. He was hot!

Seen 2 fresh scrapes and lots of rubs.

Still no sign of mature bucks.

Friend out in Stewart had a 10 point cross a road into a field close to his house, head down the entire time.

What time? Daylight or dark?
Daylight, said he had a nice rack, remarked that he would of taking him if he still hunted.

I've been blessed to have some friends in southern IL that let me play on their ground during bow season. I ran up for a couple of days this week to check on some stands and put up a blind for later in the month. I've seen more deer than normal with this cold front, but no rutting activity. A little scraping has started, but no big deer on their feet right now.

Found two scrapes a couple of days ago. They were in the exact spot they were last year. Found two fresh rubs today that were not there yesterday. A 7-8 point buck about 70 yards from the back porch had his nose to the ground trailing something about 10:15 AM today.
Cumberland county

Starting to find scrapes n rubs in Stewart County , but bucks more interested in food than they are the girls so far . Was able to get a good buck for my son Juvenile weekend by setting up between bedding and food. Should start to get right when muzzleloader opens .

Seen this buck (I think) this morning come into the food plot and run 4 does out. Think he is 3.5. Wasn't true chasing but they are getting antsy.

I had 2 reports of small bucks chasing in Houston Co yesterday. Another buddy saw mature buck chasing in Montgomery this afternoon.

Marshall and Williamson

Trail cam pics of bucks starting to cruise and expand their range. No sign of a hot doe yet.

I've also seen a bump in deer roadkill in the past week.

Thanks for starting the thread. Love this time of year.

On my farms in Robertson and Montgomery counties I'm seeing plenty of field scrapes and a few wood scrapes. Does are bunched up still. Starting to see older aged bucks seeking and checking. IMO we are on the verge of first does coming into estrus.

Watched a good buck shadow a mature doe this morning, wasn't pushing her, just following along 20yds off to one side. Crossville area

SW TN - scrapes are popping up everywhere, which is right on time. I watched a 3.5 year old buck pushing unreceptive does yesterday and watched a mature buck lip curl at the same group of does little later. Mature buck read the does and backed off, but did follow behind them, at a comfortable distance as not to bump them. He had his neck stretched out lip curling several times. The other bucks piped down and went back to feeding once big boy showed up.

Had a four point cross in front of my truck on Hwy 231 today at 2:00. When I came off of the property at 5:00 there was a decent 8 point standing out in the field. THis is Rutherford County.

I live in NW Alabama but hunt in Southern Wayne county Tn. There used to be a privately owned fenced hunting area that a friend of mine managed. They tested a sample of their does and using whatever data they use determined that all of those does bred on 12-10. This place is no more than 3 miles from Tennessee.

Fayette county

Saw a 1.5 year old out cruising Saturday morning around 9:00.
Saw 4 1.5 year old bucks cruising throughout the morning Sunday.

Sequatchie/Grundy rubs and scrapes everywhere! Went to same tree I killed buck at last week and seen another young buck running 2 does. Starting to get good boys and gals!

Saw two bucks at 10:30 Saturday. Both coming into a scrape 15 minutes apart. They were making rubs and marking the scrape. They were fired up! One came from above the hill and the over from below. One was young, maybe 2. The other around 3 years old in his prime.
