I learned from that fiasco, never again. I won't even darken the door of a sporting goods store looking for ammo during this time again. I've got my 2 boxes. ;)

What I learned indirectly from the 2008 election was that something as simple as a primer can shut your hobby down. Then it repeated in 2012 but I had mostly learned my lesson, coming up short only with brass and magnum rifle primers (got as low as less than 200).
Now I will never be caught short. Simple as that.
I see something on sale, like the 9mm 115 FMJ's. I already had about 1500 but the price exactly hit my target so I got them.

I sold a guy 500 rounds of 9mm 115gr FMJ's yesterday afternoon for $100. Thought something was fishy that he drove 90 miles to get them. Got on-line and saw that the buying craze hit big yesterday and all wholesalers were out of them and what was available of GunBroker the bids were already over $300 for 500 rounds with days left on the auctions. Cheaper Than Dirt was really showing their stuff also as they had 1,000 rounds of 223 listed over $1500 at one point.
Government don't mind to intervene on 2 guys loading up on 17,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and selling it for profit but they are letting ammo dealers do this........playing right into their hands.

Right. :roll: I could make a few bucks as well, but I'm choosing to keep what I have at the moment. ;)
Think I'll mosey on down to the local pawn shop and see what the going rate is.
Ammo is about the most secure emergency plan I know of. If you buy it during the good times , it can turn a nice profit during the bad.
Better than gold/silver. Word to the wise, buy a little all along during the good times. You hardly will notice it except for that you are running into storage issues. ;)
Funny how just a few weeks ago the retailers were running all kinds of sales trying to get sales and now they can't keep it in stock.

I needed to get something from Sorts Academy this morning at opening time it was a stampede to the ammo section, think goodness that was not why I was there.
Dang. Again, I'm soooo glad I learned something from the Obama scare.
It is getting more popular for sure but it hasn't gotten to the point of the Obama years YET.
My dad wanted me to order him some .270 bullets for reloading and I told him some of that stuff may be hard to find again. I had ordered quite a bit of ammo last week for .22 Mag, 9mm, and .22 LR and had to order what I wanted from different online stores; no single place had everything I wanted in stock. Well, fast forward to today. I found dad's .270 stuff no problem, but decided to go check out what ammo they had left. I was surprised that even though they've had a big volume of sales, that they had restocked some of the ammo that was out of stock last week when I ordered. I learned from the Obama go around to order it during those good times too...and I also swapped up some of my calibers to those that would be less prone to selling out first. Such as going from the .22 LR to the .22 Mag. The .22 LR will always sell out before the .22 Mag.

I can't think of a single gun I need to buy ammo for.
.22, 9mm, .40 S&W, .44 Mag, 30-30, 45-70, .223/5.56, .308, 7mm-08; I either have a bunch of ammo for it or I can reload it or both. :party:

I just acquired a 6.5 Creedmoor, so, I'm behind the curve both on factory ammo, and subsequently ammo components to load with. Looking now.

This week...
I pushed through 950 9mm rounds
tumbled over 700 bottleneck brass, picked corn cob out the primer pocket, primered all of them with Fed210M's.
loaded 72 rounds of 9 using different powders and charge weights. Looking for an accuracy point.
Loaded 25 6.8 SPC rounds and did brass prep on a net total of 100.
Son is wanting to shoot 400 yards at MSSA so we got some VLD Bergers and new match-grade brass headstamp ABM. That is when I hit problems. The primer pocket was NOT round; I don't mean to say it was oblong but with my RCBS primer press i had to use TWO hands to seat the primer. I did 5 of these and that was it, I broke out my variable B&D, clamped it down, got it turning, and made everything right. Then I saw I better chamfer and at least 30% were not round so I took all 100 and ran them through the .308 FL die then chamfer then tumble, then pick, then seat primers. The SPC brass was from Starline and every piece was load-ready.
A busy week but very productive

Whooooeeeeee went looking to see if any deals exist for 55 grain FMJ bullets in .224.
No one has any. Even the stupid high priced ones are gone. I left "email me when you got some to sell" messages all over the web.
I will concentrate on some 224 and 6.5 this week. Mebbe some more 9's.

Went to a local gun store today and they had PLENTY of ammo at regular prices. Bought a couple of boxes of .40 because that's the only thing I was a little short on. Plenty of A.R.'s in stock as well.
