As some of you might remember, I was involved in a boating accident back in May of this year, I am finally able to get up and out and have actually been working and slowly getting back to normal. My reason for posting is I am looking to see if anyone has any experience with 10mm Auto ammo for deer? Due to me banging my face on a rock in the accident I will not be able to shoot rifle this year (8 plates, 47 screws) so I am going to us my G20sf. The ammo I have looked at is from Underwood and CorBon....they seem to be the most highly rated and are considered "full power" loads. I am very confident with this weapon out to 40 yards so it would be like hunting with a bow....just louder, I just don't know if a XPT hollow point, Hard Cast or Bonded Soft Core would be best. Any suggestions and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Glad, really glad, to see you up and around. I have zip handgun hunting experience although my BIL does have the same 10mm. I doubt he hunts with it but will ask.

glad you are doing better

if i was going to hunt with a 10mm id use 200 xtp then my second choice would be hard cast or speer gold dot

Underwood makes some of the hottest 10mm ammo available. I'll be carrying there 200gr XTPs in my G20sf this season.

Check out Double Tap and Buffalo Bore ammo as well.

It's pretty well known Double Tap highly exaggerates there muzzle velocity. Mike has been called out on it several times on Glocktalk but has never admitted or appoligized for it. Despite costing as much or more than brands that meet or exceed there advertised fps.

Edit: good place to look for 10mm info is the ten ring http://glocktalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38

Thanks to everyones suggestions....I will eventually be loading my own for hunting but not have dies just yet. Looks like I am going to try the Underwood ammo...I am going to get a box of 150XPTs (1500fps/775ftlbs energy) and 180XPTs (1300fps/676ftlbs energy) and see what the weapon tells me. I have read that I might have to change to stiffer recoil sprang on some of the full power loads. Will see.....
