well the .22 is really hard to find right now. but i don't know nothing about the 17HMR thou. i've been looking all over for .22 long rifles and can't find a thing in the stores. and i sure the heck won't pay 10.00 bucks for 20 rounds at one store i went too.

so if it comes down to me paying that much for .22 ammo then i guess my new rifle will set in the gun safe unfired

that is what i was planing on doing when i get some extra money because i'm going to stock up with about 3000 rounds where i know for sure i will be set for next 5 or 6 years LOL.

well here is a other problem and this is what it says LOL

And this is cabela's

.22 LR 40 LRN (Thunderbolt) Per 500

Regular Price:
$23.99

Not Available
Unable to backorder due to unusually high demand

And this is what Mid way USA is saying when they might have some more in stock

Winchester M-22 Ammunition 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain

Status:
Out of Stock, No Backorder
Date expected in stock: 07/20/2013

Here lies the reason for the shortages and high prices. Everyone thinks they need thousands of rounds for some type of end of the world TV show scenario or complete government take over. I'm of the mindset that folks are going a little overboard which is the cause of this mess. Chill folks. Let the market rebound so we can all enjoy shooting on a regular basis again.

Bingo

I'm find 17 HMR at several stores, in fact Bass Pro was running a sale on it a few week back. 22's are almost impossible to find unless you know someone. Just picked up 1,425 rounds of CCI Mini Mags at Wally World. $100 for all, not bad. Just have to know the right person at the right place and time.

Knowledge is Power.....:)

Oh so now we're gonna have to start rubbing elbows with the wal-mart clerks to get ammo. wow Should have saved some mini mags for the rest of us.

Nope, people have been buying THOUSANDS of rounds of ammo for YEARS and there was never a shortage. Not ever durning Vietnam.

What's happening is Obama promised to do everything in his power to push though his gun control programs. That caused MILLIONS of law abiding American citizens to stock up at the same time where they never did before. Those who hoard have been hoarding for years and they bought the ammo ON SALE cheap. Today no hoarder would think about buying any ammo at these prices. It's the ones that did not do anything BEFORE Obama went on the war path against the Second Amendment.

It will NEVER get back to being like it used to be. The "new" normal will see higher prices than before but not as high are they are now. And the pressure will NOT back off until Obama loses and backs off. The problem is it'a going though federal, state, county and city levels, ALL of them are pushing for more gun control laws. Until it all is done and we see where we are with any number of new laws it will still be a problem for the ones that did not buy while they could.

Nope, I just told the truth. The Obama supporters still blame everybody else, ever on the ammo storage.

Those millions of Americans that got caught with their pants down and little ammo are now running all over themselves trying to find some and blaming others.

I would wager there is over 200 million rounds of 22LR sitting in folks homes.

For example, i don't think 10,000 is all that much 22 ammo. Take 10,000 more just like me, and you have 100 million.

You got it right. But like me, we've been buying a lot at a time for YEARS and it NEVER caused anything like today.

It was only after Obama went to war on the Second Amendment then stocks went though the floor.

I have been looking for 22 ammo myself, not to hoard up like most but just to take my kids squirrel hunting and do a little plinking. I have never needed more then a couple hundred rounds at any given time of 22 ammo. They both have 22's and we can't even go shooting more then once or twice before I will be out. It looks like I am going to have to spend the extra money on a .17 since that is the only thing I can find in the stores because of all of the hoarding. Rant over sorry for the highjack Eric you got a good deal on the rifle.
