Ames guys or BSK?

I will be hunting around Ames plantation at some point this season. When is the seeking phase in that area? What is the absolute brst time of the year to be Ina tree? Thanks guys

I bet Ames has good data on fetal conception dates. Expect the best cruising the ten days prior to the 10-day peak breeding window.

Steve is correct, the week after Thanksgiving has traditionally been a jam up week to be in the woods. The time of year, rut wise, is good and the daytime temps are usually good (high around 50) at that point. With that said, if I could only hunt 30 days at Ames, it would be November 15 - December 15, with the majority of deer activity I expected to see being driven by daytime high temps (the cooler, the better the sightings typically). If I could only hunt two weeks of the season at Ames, it would be the week of Thanksgiving and the week after, and if I could only hunt one week it would be the week after Thanksgiving. You can also always bet the first week of December to be good hunting as well. My .02

I hunt 8 miles or so north of Ames and usually hunt most of Thanksgiving week into the next week everyday. Consistently our best time to see a lot of chasing is within a couple days of Thanksgiving day on either side of it. Can't tell you how many times Thanksgiving day has been the best day as far as chasing goes. I have a friend that hunts close to Ames and he usually reports a lot of chasing the week after Thanksgiving into Dec.

Good intel Andy. Ames is about two weeks later in general than what I was used to in the TN River area. However, we both shot our bucks during the muzzleloader season last year.

My family farm is the only place i have hunted since i was 11 and now im 23, and it is less than two miles away from ames plantation 1 landowner seperates our properties. Be in the stand during muuzz and thanksgiving week shot a nice 8 last years opening muzz chasing 3 doe, and shot a big 9 pt opening gun last year just by himself walking. november is always the best time down there to see the biggest bucks cruising. i shot another big 8 last dec 27 and he wasnt chasing but still was moving. i also run alot of cam pics in late oct they fight alot and start scrapes through usually first week of muzz, then i start getting random pics of giants walking searching nov - mid dec, after that they seem to pattern back up.
