after a lil research i can get a 32 inch h&r bbl you can put a scope rail on it too


i figure 22 inch bbl i have after conversion 20 inch bbl


so after a conversion 30 inches of bbl


i wonder could you take advantage of it and get more speed out of a .45 conversion

just thinking out loud
 
I don't know you personally, but from everything that I have read on here the short answer is "YES!"

Long answer, as FULLDRAW said, "I'm sure that you will let us know." It sounds like a really cool project.

im fine with mine it will server a purpose for 2 weeks a year till i build a rem700

i forgot to update

the 180gn 358 bullets in a 45 smokless was a waste of powder and total failiure
i know i was told but i am just one to try it
 
Slufoot will cut and crown the 32" barrel down to whatever length you want. If you do a little research on Doug's you'll probably come up with the same conclusion I did. 24" is about all a Smokeless 45 needs to reach full potential shooting saboted loads.

i thought about cutting it to 26

I toyed with the idea of having him cut one to 24-26" and keeping the drop so I could full form. May still do it. Think I'm going to sell my Savage after this season and go to all 45s. Kind of a pain in the butt to keep up with 50 cal stuff and 45.

Just wish they would make a stainless barrel that long on the H&R's.
 
You are thinking about it backwards Lade.

Build around a projectile.

Don't expect the longer barrel to make up for your bullet's misgivings. There may be an initial speed advantage with (a), but you could be screwed by another projectile (b) with a better b.c.

Find the perfect bullet for what your objective is and design around that.

And that advice is good for rifles as well as mz's.
